Coming home to a crime scene....

I was having a lovely day yesterday. Tera Online on my agenda along with setting up my streaming services and making an appealing youtube and twitchtv background so I could store my Tera videos. The anticipation was killing me and once I got to a stopping point I went to join a nice dinner out with family. Coming home and heading back to my room was normal expect my door was wide open. I have three cats about a year old now who love to explore and have achieved learning to swing themselves on my old door and opening it right up. The only thing I was worried about was that they could've come in and found a nice place to pee on my laundry like they had before *thus I learned to keep my door nice and shut* I went around carrying them out as they mewed at me so cutely to stay in but I know better. Seeing no damage I walked over to my computer desk to sit back down and check on my computer's progress on downloading Tera's client for the upcoming closed beta. To my pure horror I saw the crime scene.
The vase holding a rose on the second row slanted, the flower laying on my laptop. Water splashed all over my laptop dripping down onto my Wacom Intuos drawing tablet. My first reaction was to quickly unplug everything from my computer, pulling out the all the usb plugs, power plug and then tipping my computer over and wiping the water away to pull out the battery. Then it was my turn to freak out...because before me...as I turned the laptop upside down the disc drive gushed water in a little stream. I ran upstairs screaming for help, my poor parents running to see what was killing me. You know those scenes where the hero is carrying some hurt child limply in their arms? Yah that was me but franticly trying to explain how to help me out.

After running across the street to radio shack to buy a screw driver to unscrew the back of my laptop I saw water near the motherboard but not ON it. I took Q-Tips and scanned the hard drive, no damage there. So now my laptop is upstairs open and positioned so it can drip water if its in there. There's no telling for at least a few days to see if it will work. I haven't tested out my tablet yet but I'm cringing at the fact if both are broken i'm out of over two thousand dollars worth of electronics. About to start college this is just the worst timing possible since I need a computer to do graphic work.

I'm quite stressed out over all that but most of all I can't help but be disappointed in not being able to try out Closed Beta. Tomorrow I will be taking the hopefully dried laptop to a computer repair to check it out for me. Hopefully they don't try to nudge me past the 120 bucks I have...after all I am an unemployed seventeen year old.

I hate coming home to crime scenes.

Flowing tears of excitement!

^ How my face looks every second until friday.

So kiaskjfdhjksdfhasdjkfjsdkhfsdafjdsjkfhadskjfhsdkfjhsdhfhsdjkf *cough* AHEM....
I've been a fan of twitch.tv streams for a while and through the Tera Online forums I ended up glued to my screen with this awesome gamer Goditer's stream. It's so entertaining...you have no clue. There's a world of inside jokes from previous streams and each day everyone has something to think about in either a WTF did I just hear or laughing your ass off at the thought of it. The point of the stream besides fun is that it offers a great HD showcase of K-Tera where we've been able to see multiple dunegons, monsters and giant dragon mounts. Ontop of the visuals i've learnt alot about Tera so the commentary is just a big plus to the whole package. He's been giving NA cb keys to lucky people through contests since i've watched and each day i've tried to get my hands on them. Even though it was disappointing to constantly be denied it did not ruin the experience for me at all. Last night I got on the stream with hope of getting a key- and did! He did a really cool thing for me and another viewer whose been watching as long as me. First we had a poll where the viewers voted who they wanted but we constantly were tied ( pretty sure someone was proxying to screw with us) which caused the tension just to build up in me and at 2am I was wide awake again. After that he decided some stream based questions would be good- together the other canidate and I  failed the first two. When you watch streams for hours upon hours along with school and other activities things get really jumbled I guess. Thankfully when the third question got around "How many times have I been ninja'd?"
I quickly decided it was three times even though the number two stood out I knew he had gold drops more then that. Right on the money he sent me the NA beta key and i'm very thankful to him for it! That saves me a trip and now I can start my video review on CB Tera plus have a new review up after the testing which starts on friday then ends on sunday.

I'm so excited I feel like i'm going to just scream when Tera offically loads for the first time...note to self record first reactions.

The political system of the future...

Let's imagine you're already a popular guild leader, your guild members love you and all the guilds below you can't help but wish Man I want to be more like them..! That's when you can take the extra step while playing Tera Online. If you've got confidence, good allies and lots of time with a dedicated mind you could rule over a part of Tera itself. You could be elected to be head of a territory for the next three weeks getting to choose taxes, using npcs to get things done, use a announcement system to speak to the people under your rule, sending the people you don't like or are doing wrong to JAIL! Then on top of all that your guild gets these nifty white horse mounts that show off just how brilliant you are.The only catch is you need to be level 50 plus with a level three guild under you with bags of gold....30 million gold. I'm not sure how currency on Tera is but dang it's basically a presidential election. From what I can tell *dont take my word* you get to campaign for six days using whatever you want to get your name out there because once the ballot is sent out people will vote real time for you. You can run as a candidate for more political cities or you can win by PvP scores. Sounds perfect....right?

Now lets check back into reality, not all guilds are good... well more their leaders aren't good. Your going to get those who will do anything, throw the PvP ones aside. Your going to get big guilds that just love to beat the crap out of you, kill steal your mobs, and bully their way to the top. They might buy votes but cross your fingers...so far it seems like you can't abuse this system.I feel like this kind of system will keep the community interacting on many levels of suspense and fun competition. These kind of extra systems are what keep players around for a long time since it helps form friendships between players.

Looking forward to the future of this.

Yearning for yet another game. . .

Oh Tera Online how you make me whine and drool over your pixels. If you haven't heard about Tera Online here's your chance...I have a lot to say. I've been following Enmasse about this game for a while now and finally it's finished their first NA closed beta. Tera is currently being praised for it's true action combat as described on their website ...
"TERA takes the fight beyond whack-a-mole monotony with enhanced aiming, dodging, and tactical timing to create intense and rewarding combat. Unlike other MMOs, you can use your controller or keyboard and mouse to control the action like never before. With all the depth you expect from a traditional MMO, plus the intense gratification of action combat, TERA changes all the rules."-http://tera.enmasse.com/
If you're the average mmorpg veteran you know why you've retired many games...boring combat! After hundreds of hours of button smashing most people get that repetitive attitude and have to re-roll until they just game hop. Especially when your grinding mobs for...oh god why do I even play this game rage#$%@!&^rage lengths of time. The big question I want to have answered is it really going to make the usual grinding monsters and rep quests any better? With the experience I've had while playing small differences in combat don't really make killing that same mob for three hours any better. So far I've been keeping up with some live streams of Tera and they usually say you learn how to kill them and you just continue with that formula. Honestly though, I believe if you want this "true action combat" we'd need the monsters to be scripted to be throwing random attacks in orders we can't even predict so that when we fight we do have to make those split second decisions with our characters movements and timing. Yet it's different for each class and you really have to learn how to play your character so it might just be worth getting through it.We will just have to see how long this new combat can keep the experienced players entertained.

I'm planning on going out this weekend and grabbing me a beta key by simply preordering it...if I don't like it I can just take my five bucks and put it towards anything else I see fit after all.

To get into the closed beta's you either needed to:
1) Preorder online 2) Go to your nearest Gamestop put down five measly dollars and get in.3) Abuse IGN's trial system. 4) They had a short sign up for testing.

The true action combat is a shining star to those who love to beat each other up in PvP but what am I looking forward to in Tera? It's political system! I'm currently doing more research on it so I'll have to continue my Tera rant later.
